Emma & Jordan's Destination Micro Wedding at Lodge on the Desert
When the pandemic hit, our lives were completely changed. Not only was the world shut down, but our business changed at it’s very core. Out of the 22 weddings that we had booked in 2020, only 2 actually happened (before the shut down) and 3 more turned into elopements. The rest re-booked for 2021 and beyond or cancelled all together. We lost almost all our income for the year and major panic (and identity crisis) set in, but as usual, we gained so much clarity through the hard times. Through this change, I (Betsy) realized that smaller weddings bring me so much joy. This wedding day, like so many other intimate weddings, was slow and calm, all about two people commiting their lives to each other in the presence of their closest friends and family. It wasn’t about the lavish florals (although they were lovely) or the over the top decor, it was just about love. and family. and commitment. While we still photograph (and love) big weddings, this smaller, intimate type of wedding will have a special place in my heart, (which a great because 2022 is full of them).
Emma & Jordan were both so sweet and chill. Even though I had just met them, I could tell they are a great match. It was a warm November day in Tucson and their guests came from all over the country to celebrate. The day unfolded so naturally, no stress or worry from either of them. The Lodge on the Desert is an insuspecting spot for a wedding venue because it’s located in smack dab in the middle of central Tucson, but once you walk through the gates it is full of beautiful old adobe buildings with qaint pathways bordered by lush greenery and cactus. It seemed to be the perfect spot for a wedding because it’s close to so many of Tucson’s best restaurants and destinations, all your guests can stay there and it’s gorgeous. Hope you enjoy this beautiul micro destination wedding at the Lodge on the Desert in Tucson, Arizona. If you or someone you know is eloping or having an intimate wedding in Tucson, please send me a message, I’d love to chat with you!
