Thanks for your interest in participating in our 2017 branding sessions! These sessions give us the opportunity to express ourselves creatively, try out new locations and show our future clients that engagement & anniversary sessions are a time be adventurous, authentic, in love and take some seriously beautiful photos! Plus, we are so excited to be using our new favorite medium...film (yes, real film that you load in the camera, send off to a lab to get developed and we don't see again for 2 whole weeks. It's incredible!).

We specifically chose five couples who we feel fit our definition of "dream clients". Our dream clients are this... young, trendy couples, who are madly in love and not afraid to show it. They value our opinion, appreciate our craft and trust our artistic vision. Here's the awesome thing...to us, that's you. We want to attract more awesome clients like you, so that is why we are doing these sessions. To reach more people that we connect with on a deeper level, create lasting relationships and capture beautiful memories for you and your spouse.

So here is what we want to get out of these sessions. We want to capture you...not you in some weird pose with a forced smile, but you, in love. We want to capture the real you and genuine moments of connection between two people. We want to see your in love moments and capture them so that in 40 years you can look back at these photos as a great reminder of the love you share. It's our dream to not only capture stunning, artful photos, but photos that capture who you are as a couple and the love that you share for each other. It's sounds a little mushy, because it is. Seriously. Love is mushy, but it's so, so amazing and we want to capture that.

What we are looking for...

We are trying to encourage our clients to really invest some time and thought into planning their engagement session, rather than just casually throw on jeans and a t-shirt and meet us at a random spot for photos. We want to create a beautiful, fun and adventurous experience where they leave even more excited for their wedding day, than they were before. We want the location of their engagement session be somewhere that they really love and appreciate the scenery.  We want our clients to show up to their session, looking and feeling more beautiful than they ever have before, confidant in their outfit choices and feeling completely comfortable in what they are wearing. In order to help guide our future clients in the right direction, we are creating these sessions to give them great examples of exactly what we want. You'll find some examples of what we are looking for outfit wise, below!

OUTFITS

Most importantly, we always want our couples to feel completely comfortable in what they are wearing. When your dress is too short, if you are self conscious about your arms, or his suit doesn't fit just right, your discomfort can show in photos! We would like to gently guide our clients to choose outfits that are the most flattering to their style and their body type. For these sessions, we really want to encourage you to dress up!

LADIES

Have a stunning dress or tulle skirt that you could never quite find the right time to wear? This is that time! Long, flowy dresses and skirts look amazing on camera because they bring extra movement to the photos. Especially when juxtaposed with nature, like the desert, forest or beach. Cute, shorter-length dresses paired with heels photograph beautifully as well. Dresses and skirts tend to look most stunning on camera because they really flatter the female figure! Choosing flattering silhouettes and colors that compliment your natural features is the best way to ensure that you will love the way you look in your photos! Three-quarter length sleeves create an awesome, slimming effect on all arms, so be on the lookout for an option with longer sleeves, if that is something you are self conscious about! Skinny straps or strapless dresses have the opposite effect on camera, so we recommend those whenever possible if your goal is a set of slimmer looking arms! Heels elongate women's legs, making them look fabulous. Close toes heels particularly look great on camera, because they carry the line of your leg all the way down to your toes. If you choose to wear a peep-toe heel, you might want to schedule a pedicure before your session so you don't regret letting your feet show!

Quick tip: bring a pair of flats to your session to get from place to place!

Pairing an accessory or two with your outfit can really help bring some extra dimension to your images.  Belts, necklaces, bracelets and earrings bring great visual interest, so choose one or two that don’t compete for attention. Fresh florals in a crown or bouquet can be a really romantic touch as well.

GENTS

We love the look of a guy in a nice, well tailored suit. From James Bond to Don Draper, men look most striking in a well-tailored suit. If he doesn’t have one, now’s the perfect time to invest in something he’ll wear for the rest of his life! The best part? It’s a lot less expensive than you might think! While custom suits can cost thousands of dollars, some of the most well-known brands have off-the-rack suits in their stores for a fraction of the price. Solid shades of gray or navy are a strong compliment to most women’s outfits, whereas pinstripes or plaid patterns tend to distract the eye.

Not a suit guy? We totally understand that. We also love the look of a button up shirt and a nice pair of fitted slacks. You can pair your button up with a bow-tie, v-neck sweater or. Adding accessories to your outfit, add visual interest. Layers on men look great on camera, so even when it’s hot outside, trust us when we say that it’s worth an hour or two of discomfort for photos that will last you both a lifetime. Adding another layer will bring extra dimension and visual interest to your photos. Blazers, vests, bow-ties and ties up the level of any look. If the temperature permits, he could even consider adding a v-neck sweater with a pop of color from a long-sleeved collared shirt and tie underneath. Don’t be afraid to get a little creative with layers!
